A heart-warming celebration of community spirit is set to take place in Sunderland this festive season, as the Brighter Futures Initiative prepares to host its Community Champion Awards and Christmas Dinner on Saturday, 13th December 2025.

The event will be held at the National Centre of Excellence, located at 67 Sorley Street, SR4 7UY, and will run from 3 PM to 7 PM. Sponsored by Direct Thrive, the celebration aims to honour individuals and groups who have made outstanding contributions to the local community.

Celebration, Recognition and Seasonal Cheer

Guests will enjoy a festive three-course meal, followed by an evening of live music, dance and awards presentations, recognising local heroes whose work has made a meaningful impact in Sunderland and the wider community.

The evening offers a blend of joyous holiday atmosphere and heartfelt recognition, shining a spotlight on community champions whose dedication embodies the values of compassion, service, and resilience.

Accessible Family Event

Tickets are priced at £25 for adults and £10 for children, making the dinner accessible for families wishing to attend together. With the National Centre of Excellence’s growing use as a community venue, the event is expected to welcome attendees from many backgrounds.

Sponsored by Direct Thrive

This year’s awards are proudly sponsored by Direct Thrive, whose support has enabled the event to offer high-quality hospitality and entertainment while dedicating a spotlight to local achievements.

A Gathering of Hope and Positivity

The Brighter Futures Initiative hopes that the event will strengthen community bonds, celebrate acts of kindness, and inspire positive social engagement going forward.

Residents, supporters and community members are encouraged to attend, celebrate, and enjoy a festive evening of recognition and goodwill.
